MORE TEA, BISHOP?
A senior churchman was presented by one of his priests with not one cup of
tea, but a whole packet of teabags. Bishop Malcolm McMahon OP, in charge of
the Roman Catholic Diocese of Nottingham, which covers Nottinghamshire,
Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, and part of Staffordshire,
recently attended a retreat where another of the participants was Fr Martin
Sylvester, parish priest of St Peter and St Paul in Swadlincote.
Fr Sylvester presented the Bishop with a packet of Swadlincote Jubilee Tea,
a Fairtrade tea specially packed to celebrate the golden jubilee of the
Church of St Peter and St Paul.Fr Sylvester said, "Fairtrade guarantees a
just deal for people in developing countries, so by choosing a Fairtrade
product to bear the jubilee logo, we're aiming to share the love."
The tea is specially packed by one of the country's leading fair trade
importers, and costs £1 for 40 teabags. It is normally available after Mass
at St Peter and St Paul on Saturday nights at 6pm and Sunday mornings at
9.30am
Any local shop wishing to stock the tea is
invited to contact Fr Sylvester
on 01283 217169 or Simon Thomas on 07919 168297.
The Church of St Peter and St Paul will be fifty years old in 2008, and a
whole series of celebrations is planned. More information at
